evaluation of mir-122 levels in chronic hbv and liver cirrhosis patients

چکیده
background: microrna is a type of small rna of about 22 nucleotide length. most popular mirnas are found in the liver and are extensively important in determining the biological and clinical functions. microrna, in host cells, may impact the replication of viruses either positively or negatively. in this study the mir-122 expression was examined and compared in three groups, two sample groups of patients with chronic hepatitis and hepatitis b virus-associated cirrhosis, and a healthy control group. materials and methods: in this study, 108 samples of whole blood were taken from each participant. then the mirna expression evaluation was conducted through relative real time pcr. results: the results indicated that mir-122 expression was elevated in patients with chronic hepatitis b and hbv related cirrhosis about 1.8 times (p<0.05) more than control group which is statistically significant. conclusion: according to the results of this study, measuring the mir-122 expression levels may be used as a biomarker and an indicator of the disease progression of chronic hepatitis b to hbv related cirrhosis to hcc, but needs more investigations and more samples. k e y w o r ds: microrna, chronic hepatitis b, liver cirrhosis, mir-122

Evaluation of miR-101 Level in Patients with Chronic Hepatitis B Virus Infection and Liver Cirrhosis
ABSTRACT Background and Objective: MiRNAs are small RNAs that are expressed in most eukaryotes, and can regulate gene expression by attaching to the 3’ end of target mRNA. MicroRNA-101 (miR-101) post-transcriptional regulation is important for host-virus interactions. In addition, miR-101 has a tumor suppressive role in liver cancer and metastasis, an...
متن کاملmiR-122-induced down-regulation of HO-1 negatively affects miR-122-mediated suppression of HBV.
As the most abundant liver-specific microRNA (miRNA), miR-122 has been extensively studied for its role in the regulation of lipid metabolism, hepatocarcinogenesis and hepatitis C virus (HCV) replication, but little is known regarding its role in the replication of Hepatitis B virus (HBV), a highly prevalent hepatotropic virus that can cause life-threatening complications. In this study we exam...
متن کاملSerum MicroRNA-122 Predicts Survival in Patients with Liver Cirrhosis
BACKGROUND Liver cirrhosis is associated with high morbidity and mortality. MicroRNAs (miRs) circulating in the blood are an emerging new class of biomarkers. In particular, the serum level of the liver-specific miR-122 might be a clinically useful new parameter in patients with acute or chronic liver disease. AIM Here we investigated if the serum level of miR-122 might be a prognostic parame...
متن کاملPrevalence and Genotyping of Torque Teno Virus in HBV/HIV and Chronic HBV Patients in Iran
Background: Torque teno virus (TTV) was the first human Anelloviridae detected in a Japanese patient with an unknown type of hepatitis in 1997. TTV is by far the first known single-stranded circular DNA virus infecting human. In spite of its widespread nature in human population, its pathogenesis is still unclear. In addition, information regarding TTV infection in Iranian population is limited...
متن کاملChanges in miR-122 Gene Expression in Liver Tissue and Serum Levels of ALT and AST Following Resistance Training and Boldenone Injection in Male Rats
Background and purpose: MicroRNA-122 (miR-122) is the most abundant liver–specific miRNA. It has been reported that miR-122 plays several biological roles such as iron homeostasis, tumor suppressor, hepatic fatty acid regulation, and in hepatocyte differentiation. The Purpose of this study was to investigate changes in liver miR-122 gene expression and serum levels of alanine aminotransferase (...
